A doormat serves two primary purposes. It collects dirt and moisture. The mat is then held on to the shoes so it doesn’t get in your house. While doormats look fantastic and can add the finishing touch to your front entrance, the most important thing about them is how clean they are. High-quality mats are a good investment because they protect your interior floor coverings against dirt and damage like waterhog mats. They also reduce the time it takes to clean them.
You can have one mat outside your door, and another inside. You can choose to buy one mat if you have a limited budget. Coir has a superior scraping action, is more absorbent than a washable one, and it’s still very absorbent.
Size Matters.
You should choose the largest mat possible, depending on your budget and space. If the mat is too small, people will walk in with their feet unattended and place one foot on it. The next person will then land on the opposite side.
You can also turn the mat upside down and run it in portrait orientation so that both feet touch the mat as much as possible.

Thickness.
Not always a better pile. Pillow mats with a shorter pile have a stronger brushing action, which can remove dirt faster. Make sure your door is clear to see if the mat can be placed in the right place.

While all mats can be used indoors, you should have at least two mats. One is a scraper mat and one is an absorber.
Scraper Mats:
Design with a tied or sealed edge is better formats that will be laid on the ground than mats with PVC backing.
Absorber Mats:
They are super absorbent and will keep your floors clean with their moisture-wicking cotton pile. You can wash them with a carpet cleaner or in the washing machine to keep them clean. To ensure maximum protection, select the largest size.
